This is the only original periphery wall of Żejtun which does not have modern buildings next to it. Viewing this wall, one can easily picture how the inhabited areas lay in relation to the farmland. At the time that this wall was built, the safety and security of one’s home were paramount in the minds of the residents.
It is worth noting that the walls of the houses which abutted on farmland were very high and had no doors or windows (the existing windows are modern additions). It literally looks like a bastion surrounding the village.
